Learning

Summer School

POLIS held a summer school in July and August 2007 offering an intensive three week study of International Journalism. Summer Schools are aimed at working journalists who want to add strategic value to their skills. They enable students to have an intensive introduction to major themes in international journalism from New Media to Reporting Financial Markets. They combine theoretical and applied approaches with teachers from the LSE, LCC and the International media. For more details, including how to apply for 2008, please refer to the LSE Summer School website.

Masters Course Options

POLIS contributes to teaching at the LSE and LCC via course electives on the Masters courses offered by these institutions. Current areas of teaching include politics and the internet, media and development, and war reporting.

Consultancies and teaching interventions

POLIS is preparing a special training session for working journalists called Editorial Diversity which will provide a stimulating and useful approach to encouraging journalistic creativity and enterprise. The sessions can be tailored to specific circumstances.

Charlie Beckett, POLIS director, spent ten years at the BBC, and seven years at Channel 4 News. He has regularly given master-classes and seminars to journalists, voluntary organisations and public bodies. As POLIS director he is available for consultancy, talks, seminars to students, journalists or media training for people who deal with the media.

If you are interested in courses through Polis please contact us.
