Charlie Beckett, POLIS Director
Charlie Beckett

Charlie Beckett is the first director of Polis. He has 20 years of experience with LWT, BBC and ITN's Channel 4 News. He broadcasts and writes regularly on media and political affairs and is the author of SuperMedia: Saving Journalism So It Can Save The World (Blackwell, 2008). He teaches at the LSE and LCC. Professor Lilie Chouliaraki

Prof. Chouliaraki is the Polis Research Director. Her own research focuses on media and ethics, particularly key debates around the role of the media in shaping global civil society and cosmopolitan citizenship. She will be leading Polis' programme of work on humanitarian and development communications and the media. It builds on her previous work on distant suffering in television news The Spectatorship of Suffering (Sage, 2006). Personal Page
Will Wyatt

Will Wyatt, Chair of the Polis Advisory Board

Will Wyatt was BBC Head of Documentaries and Features through the eighties then Managing Director Television 1991-6 and Chief Executive Broadcast 1996-9. He was Vice-President of the European Broadcasting Union 199809 and President of the Royal Television Society 200-4. He is a director of Vitec Group and Racing UK Led and Chair of the Teaching Awards Trust.

Paul Charman,

Paul Charman worked as a reporter and investigative journalist on Time Out magazine in London and the Evening Standard before becoming head of journalism at the London College of Communication. He is a Board member of The Media Society, and is leading figure in the Hugh Cudlipp Trust.
